Victor I have a 1992 500 SL and, I have a problem where my windows, blinkers, and convertible top stop working at the same time. One minute it works perfect, the next minute it has zero power. Where would you recommend starting? I removed panels and started looking for bad ground cables. Honestly have no idea where to look, maybe module is bad?

How do you bleed the system? I was told it was a self bleed.

9:10 Are those yellow marks/spots on the white square plates normal or something to worry about? They look bubbly. I am talking about the bigger one on left side and the one that's tad bit right from the middle. Mine has them too.

As far as I know there were 600SE for the European market and maybe other markets. For the USA market there were only 600SEL in 1992 to 1993. Then it was S600 long
all of that woolen velour... in so big a car.... so big and soft and alluring :)
From my experience, this is not the same as US velour. I believe this is a woolen velour. It has a stiff bristle whereas the US style has a synthetic softness. It also lacked a sheen that US style velour had, being more like a natural fabric is. I had a mid 70s Eurospec S class velour car and a mid 80s 190E with that velour. The 70s style had the sane corduroy bolsters as this W140, the W201 was just the flat velour like the inserts are on this car. Makes a car grandma cozy, it was always mentioned by passengers.
Hi Victor, What cloth friction tape do you like? Do you sell potentiometers or Throttle (000 141 57 25) harnesses from your site? Store here has 3M Temflex cotton & rubber continuous working temp is 80C / 176 °F. My car has a bit of clear that is ok after a few years whatever it is made out of.. Chasing a few glitches... intermittent limp mode, but cruise control works if I can get to 25mph -Rob

Cool car. Nice with the velour that is a good colour combination with the exterior. Bornite colour? Also quite unusual. The glovebox emblem is factory but rare, only on early euro 600's. I think MB ditched it because it looks a bit naff! I am surprised no ADS but yep, good news if that is the case. It will still have rear self levelling I imagine.
Yes, bornite and I suspect you might find some violettgrau (matt) metallic 7166 on the plastic innards... it could be a different color. That velour is how a car like that should be, even if it looks like a lady's room. They look that way, don't they?
are US parts (600) interchangeable with EU 600se - hope they are ! good luck with the restoration

Виктор привет:) В WIS написано, что регулировать тросик газа надо из салона:)) Там есть регулировочный барашек, почти такой же как под капотом. Машина красилась, это видно по бамперам и пластику на дверях. В заводском исполнении они отличаются по цвету и слегка матовые. Но в целом, на вид, вполне живой образец:) И салон велюровый класс! Это была опция. На самом деле этот велюр более практичен и удобен, чем кожа

Do you have any concern with the oil condition before starting these? Should it be drained and do a oil flush and fill before starting to make sure the oil pump has good oil?
This engine was started before I got the car. At this point it doesn't matter what oil it has in it as long as there is oil in it. By buddy down the street had an old Maserati Khamsin that sat in his garage for decades. And before the engine was turned over we did lots of preventive things before trying to start it.

This video resurfaced some memories I had. So, when I was a kid a relative of ours had a w140 with the velour interior back in Russia. I remembered it being velour, but kinda never seen one non leather ever since.
I've been working on these cars for over 20 years and never saw a v with velour here in the USA. I'm sure there are some in Europe and Russia.

Wow, that definitely is a very rare and special car. The 600SE emblem on the glove box door is factory option but I think it’s really rare
Never knew that the emblem was a factory installed item. I saw 600sel emblems also. But I thought they were added by the owners

It was started before I received the car. So I too just started it with whatever fuel there is in the tank. When I got it running I'll burn off the old gas and refill it with fresh fuel.
@@vsandvs WOW it's awesome if someone ran it out of gas before it was parked. Pete's carport has a video where he swapped out the fuel filters (I think there are 2 on your car) on similar generation S600. I think that will be essential to get that thing running smoothly. Yes, sometimes you have a problem with the fuel system. I had a mid 60s 6.9l Mercedes come in when I had my shop. I had to clean out the fuel tank, replace fuel pumps and filters, some hoses, clean fuel distributor, injectors, etc. It was a mess... This one is not too bad
@@vsandvs awesome, I have a 1999 S500 that's been sitting 4 years. Do u know how big a job it is to pull remove the tank in order to clean it ? I'm worried about sending that old cruddy fuel through the fuel system. Any advice ?

My 1990 SL 300-24, has high idle at 1500rpm, i did change the overvolt relay and it dropped to 1100rpm, However now the car has been run for a few miles i have a 500rpm when drive is selected and in neutral its back to 1500 rpm. Your video may help me but for now having just got the car back on the road after being stored for 7 years i will live with it.AND do something in October, many thanks a very good video.
Hi Victor, I have a 2000 SL500 with 57k miles, and today, it would not go into reverse. I then shifted it into drive then reverse worked again. Strange. Other times, when the car is cold before the car is warmed up, it takes like two to three seconds to engage to reverse from park. I also feel a little grinding during the engagement. But that's when the car is cold. Any ideas what might be causing it not to go into reverse? Thanks.
That's 722.6 transmission. This video doesn't apply to yours. I can't say what can be wrong. Need to see the car.

I have a 1995 SL500 that runs great but all the lights on the right side of the dash are on and the speedometer and mpg gauges do not work. It shifts ok unless i try hard acceleration. Then it wont shift. Any ideas? I have replaced the engine harness.

My 1997 C36 amg driver door handle does not have tension when i pull it. It also takes many tries pulling the handle to open the door (it has to be in a very precise position). Do you know what could be causing this?
The handle and the lock are pretty simple in w202. Maybe your cable retainer is broken or something. Need to remove the door panel and check.
Vic, I have a 1994 SL500, I was told to reset you turn the steering wheel full to the left and right, and then windows all the way down and up and it should be reset. It worked for me twice when changing the battery. Hope this helps. Also you can manually lock and unlock the cylinders manually, and see if the red lights disappear.
Thanks. This one had a couple of issues. I found them all and the roof works fine now. It was more difficult since there were few faults at once. Usually it's just one issue, this one had few faults. Reset is needed everytime you replace or disconnect the battery to sync windows.
